Former Auto Junk Dealer WRKO Talk Show Host For A Day.

Would you like to be a WRKO Talk Show Host for a day?

Well, at WRKO you may just get your wish...as long as you have Republicrat leanings.

Today, a former auto junk shop owner took over the DePetro 9-Noon spot on WRKO. Says he is now a state senator. His name in Hedland or something like that.

Suggestion: don't give up your day job dealing in junk and don't bring anymore of it to talk radio.

He's from the south shore, represents Marshfield, and I think he had some ties to WATD at one point but I forget when.

>>>Well, at WRKO you may just get your wish..

just shows how stupid jason & julie truly are, but everybody's watching, and they are destroying their reputations in boston for sure...

Could it be that they're keeping the 9:00 am till noon segment free until "The Stephanie Miller Show" becomes available?

Meanwhile, the DePetro-less 'RKO went up slightly in the 12 + but I have no idea how their 25-54s are.
Expect them to do well in a couple months as we follow Dice-K and the Sox...

>>>Golly, that's a swell reason for him to be doing a radio show in an almost major market.

...with no experience either!!

if WRKO went up, it was due to all the press coverage on depetro. They will go back down. Is scootoo still on in the morning? unlistenable. How much longer until he is dumped?

>>Bob Hedlund is a nice guy

And wasn't he a Democrat, for all the libs out there...of course Republicans in the MA legislature are as scarce
as hens' teeth. How about the Muffy and Mihos show?

He is a "republican", and just ran against a man named Lynch from Marshfield in the general election.

I moderated the Marshfield.net message boards for quite a while and I read nothing but good things about him.

I hate to take this off topic, not all republicans are bad. I am not a fan of Mr Bush, or Mr Romney, but I do know some of the players in the Republican party who got kicked to the curb when Romney decided he was from Massachusetts and wanted to play Govenor.

The new minority leader in the Senate is a friend of mine. He is trying to get the R's back on the map after Romney, Muffy and Bush made some of us drop our party affiliation. The philosophy of my friend is that republicans have to be libertarian in thier social policy, but conservative in thier fiscal dealings. This puts them far far away from the bible belt republicans that put Bush in office. I suspect Hedlund falls into that line of thinking based on the debates I saw and heard this fall ( debates on WATD and Marshfield cable)

Now Mr. Casablanca I know you have no love for WRKO, but give the guy a break will ya.

>>>and I read nothing but good things about him.

nice to know, but where's his talk radio experience or entertainment value???

Bob Hedlund was absolutely awful.

I hate to say that as his guests are my friends and Visual Radio guests Ed & George.
They have the knowledge and they've been doing rock & roll/talk radio for years.

But as Lucy Lu said, Hedlund being a nice guy and being on a 50,000 watt station are
two different things. Egads...they're finally talking about something worthwhile - music -
and RKO blows it. Maybe they should've just had Ed & George on and sent Hedlund out
for coffee.

It was an awful listening experience.

Ed and George do a weekly oldies show on WATD, and are quite listenable, and they play real oldies, not this 103.3 crap.

Ray Flynn wasn't so hot when RKO gave him a shot, but he IMHO is much better on radio than Howie Carr who can't read his liners without screwing them up, and his delivery stinks.

Right now the Mass. Republican party is in as great shape as Boston's Progressive Talk, though the former
will still be around come Dec 21st. Barely. Ah OK, so he was a Republican.

Howie has had problems reading liners and mis-pronounces some things, but I think he's funny and interesting to listen to.

>>republicans have to be libertarian in thier social policy, but conservative in thier fiscal dealings.

yes--I don't want this thread to go into the Off the Air board, but there are a lot of "unenrolleds" like myself
that feel that way. (Veering back onto radio, specifically talk radio here): There are many people who
are unenrolled/independents, or what used to be called "Conservative Democrats" (or liberal Republicans)
and WRKO's talkers tend to appeal to them (as well as more conservative-through-and-throughs)

Fineburg did a good job last night including his Philosophy Cafe bit on Christmas with someone named
Samantha.

Actually, I listened to Bob Hedland and he isn't bad. He has a good radio voice and is at ease behind the mic and with guests.
In fact, Hedland may be the best John DePetro fill-in they have had.
I remember the last time I was wrong . . . I was in my cradle and... ;)
