Former CapRadio GM Jun Reina criminally charged

Essential pull-quote:

The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office has filed a criminal complaint charging Fidias “Jun” Reina Jr., former General Manager and Chief Financial Officer of Capital Public Radio, with multiple felony counts of embezzlement, grand theft, and forgery in connection with his role overseeing the nonprofit’s financial operations.

I guess we all saw that coming, didn't we, Mike ...

I wasn't one of them, if you will recall.
Yep. You didn't express an opinion at all, in fact:

Is that standard procedure for all executives accused of white collar crimes, or only those with ethnic-sounding names or darker skin shades?
More like those that had stolen from "The People" and who were public figures.

"Reina" is hardly an "ethnic sounding" name in CA. Ones like Johnson and Smith are, however.

I honestly don't know.

or only those with ethnic-sounding names or darker skin shades?

Well, lessee here....

Jun Reina, born and raised in the Phillipines, is our suspect.

Thien Ho is the Sacramento County District Attorney who charged Reina and ordered his arrest. He was born in Vietnam in 1977 and came to the U.S. at age 6.

And this is Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper. He's the County's first Black sheriff, and he was born in France.

I think the only people who could tell you whether Reina got cuffed and perp-walked because of his name or the color of his skin would be D.A. Ho and Sheriff Cooper.

And the person that ordered an audit on Cap Radio is the President of Sacramento State University given that the university hold the radio licenses to KXJZ and KXPR. I get it these things surrounding CapRadio gets buried in the national rants about “Defunding NPR” rants and other stuff. Also it’s Dr. Luke Woods team that got the California State University leadership like Chancellor Garcia and Corporation for Public Broadcasting to respond to the audit.

ABC10 spoke exclusively to Sacramento State University President Dr. Luke Wood moments after he released a scathing months-long forensic examination of financial mismanagement at Capital Public Radio. CapRadio is licensed to Sacramento State.
"Capital Public Radio had lax controls, lack of financial oversight, money that was being reported in ways that didn't make sense. We found out that they had reported having a $3 million reserve, and at that point in time, had only around $80,000," Dr. Wood said, calling the findings in the review sad and disappointing. "People were hurt. The campus was impacted. The community lost trust. Those are never the kind of things that you want to walk into as a new president. One person had the ability to sign things without there being any counterbalance within the organization. That person used that position and that unique setup to be able to personally benefit from Capital Public Radio."

Embezzlement here too: KGHR, a few years back.

CPB $ evaporating.
Of course, I had to look it up. In case you're interested:

Someone at CapRadio told KCRA they should talk to me. For anything else, I’d have said no, but I really felt like people should know just how much was lost in this. I hope that came across.

For KGHR in the latest iteration (Bittner wasn't involved by this time) was some $200k+. When I bailed as CE it was the lack of the purchasing department's ability to buy any needed gear.

Anyone know the status of CapRadio’s civil case against Reina? It’s mentioned in this Sacramento Bee article. The article also describes allegations about a tower construction company proposal:

CapRadio had fraud insurance. It paid the station and now the insurance company is taking the station’s place in the lawsuit. Happened in December:

I think you came off as knowledgeable but not a know-it-all, Mike.
