Former CNN host Don Lemon arrested in connection with Minnesota protest

They don't have the right to do "that" on private property. One of the first things I learned in journalism classes was about respect for such property. We were given examples of journalists who did not do this who were arrested, detained, beaten or even killed when covering news around the world.
That is a legal definition, but to any logical person, when around 10 million persons come to our country without visas or permits or permission or screening, that is an invasion.
I am sure that some here in Minnesota are. I still remember when Jesse The Body/Mind/Soul was elected here. It was pretty entertaining. Jesse is very thin skinned, however.
Many remember him suing the widow of Chris Kyle, Taya Kyle, for defamation over claims in the book American Sniper that Kyle punched Ventura in a bar, a story Ventura denied.
Jesse hasn't been relevant for many years, but he still pops his head up from time to time to remind people that he "shocked the world" and didn't have time to pee or bleed.
I just imagine Jesse at home these days with a big old Cheech & Chong blunt telling Terry Ventura, "I shocked the world!"
Terry: "Jesse, you have told me that thousands of times. Now hand me the Doritos."

The main purpose of a press credential is to get police permission to be at a crime, accident, fire or other controlled scene. The other purpose is to get access to press conferences if the party holding them wishes to only allow validated press representatives. They also help if a reporter is seeking information from police and other government files, accessing restricted library documents, etc.
Depends on the jurisdiction. Generally, with the police department but I have seen a few cases where another government agency such as the mayor's office administered press credentials and event passes. I have even seen one where applications were reviewed by the authorities along with a representative from local journalists.
In your view, were the people inside the capitol on Jan 6 trespassing or expressing their first amendment rights?
The big corporate-owned shopping malls are very vocal about not allowing reporters on their property without prior authorizarion, even for "positive" stories like covering Christmas shopping crowds. We have to call the business office for permission or security will be all over us.
If I saw Don Lemon in my city, I would automatically assume he was reporting on some big local story I already know about (hopefully) and let him do his job. I mean, it's Don Lemon. Why else would he be in my dorky neighborhood?
Keep in mind we're talking about a city that is currently overrun by masked government troopers asking citizens for their "papers." The circumstances seem to require everyone to have authentication. Even if they happen to be well known.
BTST, an amateur YouTuber from Utah went to the same city a few weeks ago, trespassing on private property, and making unsubstantiated accusations about fraud in social services. He wasn't arrested for what he did. In fact his reporting is what led to the government sending troops there. So it seems that not all "reporters" are treated the same.

Dang that sounds like Dr. Oz did as part of his video for the White House and ICE. It had the same allegations and in the Los Angeles case the local news outlets verified that the neighborhood is Armenian but had nothing to do with anything Dr. Oz was ranting about. The message is clear its to get ICE in Los Angeles to have the same fallout Minneapolis is having right now.
But in Don Lemons case he was covering the protests in Minnesota.
We have a huge propaganda war going on right now here in Minnesota. While I don't live in Minneapolis, I am about 14 miles away from there. Social media is filled with a lot of half truths and exaggerations. Mainstream media is a bit better, but when they cover something that I know very well, I pay closer attention. To make matters worse, a lot of the misinformation if coming from politicians!
Some on Facebook, Reddit, etc. are spreading misinformation that many random people are being killed, stripped of their clothing and disposed of in the wooded areas near Minneapolis. I am pretty sure that would make the mainstream news if that were happening!
The issue of immigration detainers can be complicated. Some news media are reporting on it a bit, but they never seem to tell the full story. Of course, with the short attention span of many viewers/listeners these days, it might not even matter!
I often think of the saying below when I think about the propaganda war underway here in Minnesota.

Or perhaps, just perhaps, the tactics. The murders of US citizens. The “disappearing” of children. The dragging old people out of their homes in the freezing cold in their underwear. The indiscriminate tear gassing. The dragging of US citizens out of a Target. The abuse. The violence. The lack of accountability. And even those people who are here “illegally” are deserving of basic dignity and due process under our supposed laws.
You’re doing a great job reciting the same tired BS mischaracterizations. Kudos.
That's what happens when you have a government made up of media stars instead of public servants.
I was listening to the BBC World Service late yesterday evening, and they ran a news package about how Native Americans in Minnesota are being stopped and harassed by ICE agents. Those interviewed said agents questioned their citizenship status, treated them badly, and refused to recognize their Tribal ID cards, which are a fully legal form of identification. One person said the ICE agents told him to “go back to the reservation where you belong.”
When you have indigenous people accused of being “illegal aliens” you can only conclude that ICE is being run by complete idiots.
You make a very important point that can't be emphasized enough. The current Federal administration is trying to regulate what its critics can and can't do while trying to protect its friends and supporters from those same regulations. The ideas that the law should equally apply to all, and more importantly, the first self-evident truth in the U.S. Declaration of Independence are anathema to it. In terms of media, this has led to your paragraph directly above my response.

You're right but the propaganda war that was initially about the incidents in Minnesota is spreading nationwide for the same reasons not just with Don Lemon incident over how to cover protests.
Now we have to respond to Dr. Oz ranting stuff for propaganda reasons to get ICE to do the same things in other parts of the US. Only problem some of the businesses have nothing to do with the allegations when it was being verified.
This guy was demanding access to film children in day care centers.
We could go way into politics, which is not the subject of this board. But suffice to say that the ICE enforcement is intended, principally, to remove the worst criminal illegal immigrants. Some of them are responsible for this:

While "the press" (whether on paper or electronic) runs rampant on the isolated incidents that you describe, there is still nearly nothing done about unaccompanied children in a number exceeding a quarter million.
The media, whether on the Fox side or the CNN side, has failed to cover this with deep investigative reports.
Except that there were no children. That is the whole purpose of the report.

When it comes to the one that didn't have any kids there, that's because it was visited when it was closed, according to the article:
"The site that did not have children present was visited outside of its normal operating hours, the state Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) said in an update on Friday. Another site had been closed since 2022."
