Star 102.5 was a frequent visitor when I lived in KC in the late 90’s, and I heard Kelly Foxx on the morning show many times. Had no idea what her real name was.

“Today's Best Music Without the Rap, Rap, Rap” is also one of the worst, if not the worst, positioners I've ever heard, and I started skipping Star when it launched that campaign!

Terrible what happened regarding Yvette.

On the Star 102.5 positioner from back then....yes! Awful positioner for sure. One of the most embarrassing ever on Des Moines radio. This was when hip-hop got big enough as well as CHR that Des Moines had started to get CHR and even Rhythmic formats. Star as usual clenched up tight and held their ground with their Modern AC/Hot AC hybrid appealing to that early 2000's white mom in the burbs.
