Former KIOI DJ Ryan Seacrest does New Years Eve for ABC until 2066?

This article said that Dick Clark will sign a contract for ABC until 2022
and Seacrest will do New Years eve specials for ABC until 2066.
Come on this has to be a New Years Joke.

Considering how huge the ratings were this year, I am not surprised. I doubt Dick will make it that long. Isn't he 80-something?

Personally, I found all the countdown shows so boring I went to bed at 11p.m. Maybe I'm just getting old. :)

Optimistic on both counts. Clark is 83, so he'd be 93 or 94 in 2022. I wish him luck, but considering the major stroke, he'll be lucky to survive another decade. Of course, Kirk Douglas did - he's a 16 year stoke survivor and is now 95, so who knows?

Seacrest will be 92 in 2066, but by then maybe by then we'll have bionic organ transplants and genetic re-engineering, so maybe he'll look only 50. ;D

I generally stay up with friends until after midnight, and we turn on one or another countdown show in the last 2 minutes before midnight, but really - who cares which one? As long as it's not the one with Kathy Griffin. (shudder)

When did Ryan Seacrest work for KIOI?

Ryan until 2066? Scary.

Not for me. In 2066, I'll be 114. In the extremely unlikely event that I'm still alive, I hope my nursing home attendants will turn my wheelchair toward the TV for the New Year's Countdown...and turn the volume up really loud...

I'm guessing you are all in on the joke with each other.

If you actually read the article, it IS a joke:
-Keeping Dick in an oxygen rich studio?
-Saying Dick is actually an animatronics attraction at Disney?
-Jenny McCarthy replaced by Roger Ebert who, following jaw surgery, can't even speak anymore??
And the picture with the article shows Dick using his right arm which he doesn't do due to the stroke.

Having said all that, I still wouldn't be surprised to see Seacrest there forever.
