As far as PRO-FM needing competition, I don't think this market's listenership is fickle enough for them to worry. More & more stations are putting their money where their morning shows' mouths & allowing the rest of the day to just glide in line with the PD's vision. The chance of Gio & Kim's listeners defecting is limited at this point. I think people passionate about CHR radio like to envision the leaders crumbling against competition, but Providence isn't a market where you're going to see radio wars.
Now unless the state's 10.3% unemployment rate improves, how important those morning shows are going to be in the future is another matter.
