FORMER KLIF 1190 Morning Man DON WADE

Don Wade was the morning talent at KLIF 1190 in 1971. The following is from the Chicago board:

"Don Wade had a seizure while traveling last week. After a series of tests, doctors discovered a growth on his brain. He is having surgery this week to remove the growth. Recovery from the surgery will keep Don off the air for at least four weeks. Don and Roma remain positive and optimistic. The Cumulus/WLS family sends our love and very best wishes to both Don and Roma."

I was surprised to see Don's name here, I forgot that he was on the air in Texas. They said that he came out of the surgery well. Than a couple of days ago they said that Don will have to have chemo.

They never came right out and said the tumor was malignant, that is the logical conclusion unfortunately.

Don and Roma are being very strong and let people know some things while trying to keep some level of privacy.

They are two very nice people and the outpouring of thoughts and prayers they recieved has been huge.

There is a link on their website www.wlsam.com if you wish to send get well wishes.

I hope that he will be well soon. It does look they will be off the air for sometime.

I must say that Cumulus has been very kind and compassionate to Don and Roma. They seem as of now to be willing to wait for Don and Roma to come back.

Their contract is up in December, I hope that something can be worked out.

Don and Roma are very nice, genuine people. I wish them well.

Don and Roma joined the AM when I was in Chicago on the FM. They both were real nice people to be around with no ego issues. Both are true pros.
Here's to a speedy recovery to Don and I'm sure everyone is looking forward to their return to the air soon on WLS...
