Former KVET-KASE owner Roy Butler has died

Mr. Butler was a true visionary in broadcasting. I met him back in the 60's when I was just a kid. As a owner, he knew what it meant to have good people working for you and to let them do their thing. His overall success in business is a testament to his personality and his ability to bring out the very best in people. It was an honor to have known him.

He was an absolute PRINCE to work for. I've worked for other independent owners down through the years, and they were constantly meddling with the format. Mr. Butler (as radioeye said) was smart enough to hire good people and then stand back and let them do their thing. And generous, too. He bonused longtime staffers GENEROUSLY when he sold the operation to Capstar. He didn't have to do that. God Bless Mr. Butler.
