Very sad news. Mann was one of a kind, and one of the last true radio newscasters anywhere. He will definitely be missed.

I first met Ken in 1986. I had just witnessed an execution at the Jackson State Prison in Butts County. Ken was the first reporter to approach me as the prison van dropped off the witnesses at the front gate. To say the least, watching an execution is unsettling. Ken's calm, professional approach and the questions he asked put me at ease. From that time forward, I had tremendous respect for Ken. He was a good reporter but above that, he was always a gentleman.

I still remember his reports on the Oscar Loreck saga in Cochran during the 80's on News 24...and the stories he told me as a teenager getting started in the business. I am glad I knew his was kidding, but I didn't eat seafood for a long time because of those stories.

We had a running line among us former US Broadcasting/Cumulus employees that I cannot say here...but, those of us can still hear him in his office singing, joking and telling us to "....you pal."

He was a great guy, a great talent and one of the all time best to work with. He was the last of his kind in Macon radio. Nobody can ever duplicate what he did.
