I received word over the weekend that Jay King, former jock in Meridian at various stations, has passed away in Roanoke, Virginia where he was working for a NPR affiliate. I worked with Jay during my time with (then) Clear Channel in Meridian. He was a first class radio jock and a wonderful person as well. There were many times when we solved the world's problems on the back porch of the radio station on highway 39. His love of old cars and home brew were two of his trademarks that stand out. He never had a cross word to say about anyone - save for a suit who liked to make programming decisions - and was just an all around great guy.
