Stan Torgerson, who called Ole Miss football and basketball, dies at 82

OXFORD — Stan Torgerson, who was well known as the larger-than-life former radio play-by-play broadcaster for Ole Miss football and basketball games, died in Meridian on Monday night.

He was 82.

The cause of death was not immediately available. Funeral arrangements were incomplete.

I had the opportunity to meet Stan years ago when the station I was then working for was a network station for Ole Miss Football . Stan was a great Mississippian and broadcaster .He was such an asset to the Ole Miss Sports program , he will be greatly missed . My sympathy to his family .
