Former Radio One Augusta Stations

Does anyone know what's really going on at the former Radio One (now Perry Broadcasting) stations in Augusta?

Clear Channel/Augusta is saying Perry fired most of the talent and is voicetracking most shifts. Perry says not true, that they've brought in new people.

I don't live in Augusta but have to make an urban buy for a client next week.

Any information will be appreciated.

Come on Roddy, you believe what CC says? Didn't they do the same thing when they bought the Augusta stations from Cumulus? 80-90% of the staff at Beasley are ***/CC fires, although they're great people, and many of them Augusta Broadcasting legends.

Well from what I know Jay Tek is the new PD at 103 JAMZ/WFXA (i think he is programming the entire cluster). DJ Sly Tay is still on the air in primetime and Rickey Smiley Morning Show is syndicated 6a-10a. I know the annual WFXA MayFest concert is coming up, but CC's POWER 107 just had Powerfest over the weekend.

IMO, POWER 107 is now the strongest Urban in Augusta compared to heritage WFXA 103 JAMZ and weak 97.9 THE WIZ out of SC.

Agreed. 103.1 and 96.9 are shells of what they used to be and in no way hit the market like they did back in the day. CC's Power 107 (Urban) and Kiss 96.3 (Urban A/C) are probably the best urban stations in the market right now.

Thanks, guys. CC was already killing the stations when Radio One owned them. But I'd heard rumors that Perry had little money to put into programming and was running the stations on the cheap.
