Former WGNI-1340 Mike Grohman Passed

I found out today my former friend and dj buddy passed away at home Sunday 9/14/08. Mike and I were first very good friends even sharing an apt. at Wrightsville Beach together during our radio days in Wilmington. I have such fond memories of Mike and can't believe he's no longer with us. It really makes me sad. I know xtalker (Mike Fenley) was pd at WGNI when we were there. You can go to the Wilmington Morning Star online and sign the guest book. He was only 55.

Mike Grohman (who also went by Ron O'Brian in Raleigh) was a great radio talent. In fact, I thought GNI had a pretty good lineup in those days. I hadn't seen Mike in years, but remember him like it was yesterday. RIP!

Thanks for sharing the survey, amlover!

Mike was a dear friend and one of the best guys I ever knew in radio. I am saddened to hear about his passing. I worked with Mike, and enjoyed every minute. We are losing a lot of us . Kim Downing, another friend who passed away. I am only sorry I was not around to hear about their passing until it was too late to show my respects. Love you guys.

I'm glad that Dan Hester checked in, i had been wondering whatever happened to
him, i remember his days at WWAY, Channel 3 in Wilmington working in the
Whiteville News Bureau and then anchoring the news before making his way into
radio at WWQQ(before Cumulus purchased them), i hope you are doing well.

I am doing fairly well. I have retired from the DMV where I have worked for the past six years because of diabetes and heart problems. We live in Clayton near Raleigh and hope to come home to Bladen County soon. I miss Wilmington very much, but It's too expensive any more to live there. I would love to hear from some old friends again. I have talked with Stanley B and Clay Mccauley recently and consider them dear friends, just like Mike Grohman. Oh, how I miss broadcasting. My e mail is available on this site. Dan

I still just can not believe my friend who inspired me, supported me is gone. I am another that has not seen Mike in at least ten -twelve years. We had some great times at GNI, Mike, Mike F., J.Kristopher Roberts,RIP,Todd Stevens and myself,Don Harris. What a line up that was, and now Mike is in rock and roll heaven spinning out those hits! God Bless you, Mike
