Former WJPS DJ

I just found this site yesterday, I saw they were talking about WJPS & WGBF. When I was hired in 1976, they went to all request WJPS. When WGBF changed formats to the River City Rocker they hired some really good talent and were giving away trips and cars and we were giving away 2 Litter bottles of Pepsi. Now if you were a listener what station would you listen to win? We also had some talented air staff like the Real Rodney Russell and James Stacey Taylor who left to go to WLS in Chicago. I started as the overnight guy from 1 AM until 5 AM and changed my name to Don Combs. We had Ed Castiller & Galen Jones as our newsmen. Those were the great days of AM Radio.

I remember participating in a long discussion of the old 1400 WROZ on the Indiana board some years ago, if you want more nostalgia.

And if you have new things to bring up for retro stations, you can open a new thread on the Indiana board.
