At WLW, he did middays as Jockey Joe Kelly. Huge voice. Ended every show with "Take care of the poopsies..." His slang word for children.

...He spent the next 40 years as a disc jockey for such notable stations as WLS in Chicago, WONE in Dayton, KLEI in Hawaii, , and WLW in Cincinnati.

Brings back memories. I remember he had a two part show Mon-Fri and did straight through 10-2 on Saturday.

My recollection of the line up was JFPO Mornings
Jockey Joe (with a lunch break for the 50-50 club) middays
Bob Beasley afternoons
Jim LaBarbra (sp) evenings if the Reds weren't playing
Nick Young anchoring the overnight hours.

When was he on WONE?

Late 60's, if I recall correctly, before going to WLW. I remember one hilarious bit he did on WONE. One Christmas morning, he called FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C., demanding to know why he hadn't gotten a Christmas card from Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. (for you youngsters, Zimbalist was the actor who starred in a network TV series called "The FBI.") Joe put some poor telephone operator on the air and got her completely flustered, because she didn't know if he was a nut case being serious or playing a joke.
