Former WNEW-AM Personality Passed Away

Bob Jones who was the host of WNEW-AM's Milkman's Matinee from the mid 1970's to mid 1980''s passed away a day ago.

Jones also worked at other NYC radio stations including WHN, WQXR and its extention the morning man at WQEW 1560.

I believe Bob at his best on WNEW. He was a true radio personality. I enjoyed his sign off, "Of love be more careful than anything".

Jones left us to soon still a young man. May Bob rest in peace and prayers go out to the Jones family.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy

Sad to hear about the passing of Bob Jones. Prior to joining WHN radio, Bob was the Morning Personality on WICH Radio in Norwich CT until 1968. Bob Craig was the PD then. Over the years, Bob stayed in touch with some of us as he had some family ties in this area. I recall the excitement around the radio station when it was learned Bob was joining the line-up at the legendary WNEW-1130. Bob was truly a class act. He'll be missed. Our condolences to the Jones family.

Was he the same Bob Jones who worked (evenings and weekends, IIRC) at the old CBS-owned WEEI 590 in Boston in the early 1960s? I believe he hosted a program called "Accent on Music." The music was an eclectic mix of show tunes, jazz, (pop) folk, and standards. Very good listening.
