I'm still in mourning over the format flip from Rock at KLOL. KEGL too.

I know... at least Houston got KIOL with all of the old KLOL staff. I would have thought someone would fill the void in DFW by now. And now NYC has no rock stations (besides cr). Is rock n roll really dead?

You know the trouble with Rock and Roll, is that it has such a bad image. When we think of Rock music now, we think of Drugs, and getting messed up (at least I do). I mean, can you think of anything postive to say about Guns and Roses other than they had some great songs? At least Axel could carry a tune...

It seems to me, since the 70's and 80's, rock music has just gone down hill. It's so loud now. I've heard a lot of bands who just scream and yell, no singing involved at all. The rest end up on "Mix" type stations. Groups like Nickelback are busy playing sort of folksy type pop-rock, and playing to women in their late 20's. It's almost like, you've either got focus group music, or no music at all.

Then, there are the classic rock stations. But how many times can you listen to Billy Joel or Peter Frampton before you are sick to death of them?

At leat in Lubbock we do have two rock statons, Rock 101, and KFMX. But how long will it be before it's just 'FMX?

yeah, we got KIOL. But for how long? With the constant static from it being a rimshot out of La Porte, to the low 1 ratings that it is getting, KIOL is no where near the powerhouse rocker that Rock 101 KLOL was here for so many years. With Cumulus joining up with investors and forming Cumulus Media Partners and the recent acquisition of KRBE from Susquehanna, Rock 103.7 KIOL may very well be a part of the archived history of KLOL within the next few months.
