wild's pd (mojo? shady? bolton?) must have lost his radio programming book. he's giving hot free publicity with many liners about hot's deficiencies. that's a no-no and sounds very small market.

Actually, that is a tactic right out of the Power Pig playbook. If you are the underdog, then the competition is fair game. Rumur has it that Wild will be a Lite AC soon anyway.

Of bigger concern in Fort Wayne is what Russ Oasis is going to do with Sunny. Do you really believe he'll keep it Spanish? Smart money says stunting...but what format will he go to? And will he be able to fix 93.3 and be competitive with 105.1? Fix I think...yes. Competitive? That's another question...

Eh, I'm torn on the whole bashing the competition thing. Admitedly I participated in a good bit of it when I was there but honestly I really wonder if it's a good idea. BTW, I hope those rumors of Wild fliping to AC are false. The station's got a ton of potential and it would be a shame to not take advantage of it.

I think Russ made a good decision to take Sunny to a Hispanic format. There's a significant Hispanic population in Fort Wayne and I think there's enough room for some competition for the demographic. I could see some challange on local advertising dollars but I don't think he'll have much trouble with agencies once he establishes some ratings.

From knowing the people there and what they're up to - they care about one thing and one thing only... the bottom line. Bottom line in Fort Wayne favors formats such as Country and AC - not being the 2nd place Rhythmic CHR. If you look at who is bringing the bucks in - its K105, WAJI and WMEE - not Wild or Hot. Safe formats work in a slow town like the fort. Especially considering how that move in from Bluffton is starting to make a dent in the market - look out... I would say its coming in the next two weeks. I know everyone working over there is looking for jobs and they should be at this time... Less than half of the numbers of Hot after more than 2 years = death.

Russ only took that station Spanish because the Three Amigos filed a Petition to Deny his application to purchase the Artistic stations outright... Once the LMA is underway screw the Amigos. Once he ruins them, he'll find something smarter to put his dollars in.
