Fort Wayne's ever changing radio landscape

Not in the market but have a few questions…

Adams has closed on FtW's Summit and Oasis clusters and the moves have begun. Redeemer Radio is now operating 106.3 Columbia City. Calvary Radio is now operating 102.9 Huntington. Welcome Mark Allen back to WBTU. Word is that 1250 WGL will air Fox Sports. With the loss of WGL Oldies 102.9 comes the question of what happened to Rick Hughes? If another website is correct, Classic Country is coming to 103.3, the former Calvary Radio translator. Will Rick be part of that? Oh, and is there any outcry in the Summit City regarding word that WXKE will be moving from 103.9 to 96.3? Or the loss of Wild 96.3 for that matter?

I'd read that Rick Hughes and Pat White were blown out Friday. You've got to have a scorecard to keep up with Fort Wayne radio

Sorry to read about Rick Hughes. He was always a favorite of my family in C City. Considering the obstacles faced, he did a good job with 102.9. 96.3 isn't a full class B, but a B1. No mention of 96.9, the second translator that Adams picked up in this shuffle.

So…what format will work best on those open frequencies? What helps Adams round out the cluster when presented to the agencies? Classic country on 103.3 has been mentioned elsewhere. How about an upper demo soft AC? Urban for one of the translators fed from an HD2. Is there enough talk programming to fill out a solid schedule on 1450? Any talent on the beach that might give one of those new formats some heritage at the rollout? Where's Ron Gregory these days?

Ron Gregory is retired from radio as far as I know.
He has shown up at Hamfest at the A.C. Memorial Coliseum so he's out and about, but not on the air. I believe he's on amateur radio though.

Good to read what Ron is up to these days. No doubt, he and Phil Gardner (Reaser) are my all time favorites in FtW radio.

(Tangent: back in the early 90s I was working for Metro Networks Indianapolis office. WOWO contracted with Metro for traffic coverage for FtW drivers traveling I-69 to Indpls for the 500. I freelanced those reports. The opportunity to say those call letters on that frequency and to hear Ron Gregory introduce me on WOWO that race morning were some of the highlights of my time at Metro.)
