Found an SDR receiver in Hawaii for you guys

WWVH on five and ten must be quite a few hundred miles away.
They are both strong but five is subject to severe fading and ten has some.
On fifteen, only WWV came in from Colorado.
It is 8PM where I am and I hear lots of Chinese on the higher day bands,
Also a single Spanish language network all across 19 meters.
No longwave NDBs at all.

Listening to the Hawaii SDR tonight, i’m surprised how strong CFFR 660 News is from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It sounds like a local! Is this what people hear in Hawaii on 660 AM on a normal radio or is it mostly KTNN from Window Rock, AZ? Seems more likely it would be KTNN since they throw all their power Southwest, but there is no sign of KTNN, just a strong 660 News from Calgary! 630 is also dominated by CHED from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Very cool!

It was KTNN when I was on Maui in 1994. CFFR has an impressive signal to begin with. When I was in Banff a few years ago, most of the Calgary signals (55 miles away) were significantly degraded by the mountains, but CFFR was blasting day and night.

It could also be that CFFR's night pattern is out of whack. Canada....not totally unlike the U.S....seems to have become less concerned with enforcing those rules than "back in the day".

You are correct, sir. WWVH transmits from the island of Kauai. Of the top of my head I'm going to say about 250-300 miles from Maui.

Yes, right by the Pacific Missile Range Facility, Barking Sands. Had the pleasure of visiting WWVH in 1994.

What am I hearing on 10MHz at 4AM Eastern time, 10PM Hawaian time?
It is a series of short beeps at one second intervals but at a higher pitch than CHU.
Uncharacteristically for time stations, this one does NOT ID in either voice or CW at the top of each minute.
I have NEVER heard JJY; could this be my first encounter with that 日本語 station.

I would say JJY. I think I have heard them on 5mhz before during good Asian conditions early AMs and they never ID.
