I got four new logs tonight, during the moderate Aurora opening we had on the AM dials here in WA state. This is the most logs in a day I've gotten since March!
6:45PM
1450: KHIT Reno, NV; ad for a restaurant in Silver Springs, NV (14 miles south of Fernley as the ad said); ESPN Deportes SS. NEW #456, 1kw, 569 miles! Shortly after, the groundwave signal of KSUH Puyallup and this station were mixing.
7:00PM
1240: KSUE Susanville, CA; Geico ad followed by mention of "Susanville's 1240" at 1900 PDT 10/9. Into ABC News. NEW #457, 1kw, 498 miles.
7:30PM
980: KFWB Los Angeles, CA; traffic report mentioning the 405 and Orange County, mention of Allstate Insurance; ID "KFWB". NEW #458, 5kw, 958 miles. A wanted station for a long time!
8:50PM
1240: KJOP Lemoore, CA; Catholic programming including Holy Mary prayers , echoing with KNRY Monterey (same network, Immaculate Heart Radio). NEW #459, 1kw, 791 miles! This is my second-farthest GY of my DXing career. Farthest was 1240 KSMX Santa Maria, CA on 3/12/12 during a MASSIVE aurora opening which wiped out literally everything N of the Oregon/California border. All that was left was San Fran, Sacramento, and the CA graveyarders. It was a wild ride!
