fox 26 kriv houston

It is 11 pm and im watching fox and all the sudden it went to emergency broadcast. It says FOX NETWORK CENTER LOS ANGELES, CA feed end. And it shows some numbers and TRANSMITIDO EN ESPAÑOL In sap but nothing happends. And it went to commercials, then they tried again and the same error message. They are supposed to show The Simpson right now they are showing JUST SHOOT ME. LOL whats going on??

Most non-network shows are recorded automatically. It appears the recorder was set to the wrong satellite channel and recorded some garbage. The mistake was not discovered until it was played back on air. They plugged in another show since the Simpsons episode was not available.

You are right about the automatic recordings; however it seems odd that it wouldn't have been checked as cue points/keyframes have to be entered into the playback automation for commercial insertion. Perhaps that metadata was corrupted or lost.

In addition to automatic real-time recording from satellite, many shows are simply downloaded as a file. However this can be a rather slow process as an hour show in HD can take up many dozens of Gigabytes.

There may be more to this....the same thing happened to KTBC here in Austin last Thursday or Friday. Sounds like someone sent out some wrong instructions.

Interesting. Of course there are numerous systens to ingest and playback recorded programs, so one would have to know what particular setup the FOX stations are using.

Automation works great, except when it doesn't.

The Fox O&Os have hubbed master control, so expect more stuff like this.

Talk about efficiency. Now one technical train wreck can be seen at multiple stations instead of just one.
