FOX 29 airing some syndicated shows in HD format for standard def viewers

For a few weeks now, WTXF FOX 29 has been airing some syndicated shows like COPS, Divorce Court, the movies, newscasts etc. in a HD type format for standard def viewers, instead of airing them in full screen. This is a problem because not all episodes like in COPS for example are not in HD and thus, the video of show will be in the middle of the screen, while there are black on all 4 sides of the screen. My viewership of the station has decreased because of this and I really wished that they haven't done this.

That is the trend all networks will be doing in the coming years. As less and less people have the old 480 tv sets, it makes les and less sense to program tv with that safe zone. Programs are being produced not only in widescreen now, but for widescreen.

Not surprising fox is the first one to do it. I believe fox news and FX are widescreen on their SD channels.
