FOX 29 newscasts in HD

If you noticed the sharpness in your analog TV's during the newscasts on WTXF-TV, FOX 29 is now broadcasting the newscasts in HD, even though the station hasn't mentioned it yet. That's according to one of the other Philly TV boards

Would this other board be the one that banned you for the same sort of nonsense you pull here?

Nertz: Yes, that would be the site. He was banned less than 10 days after registering.

Here is a link to the Fox 29 thread on the message forum in question.

To the folks who say I go off-topic in Julius threads all the time: I can not comment on the quality of the Fox 29 newscasts, because I don't watch the station...mainly because I don't live within the Philadelphia viewing area. However, I will be in the area this weekend to visit family. When I watch the news on Fox 29, I will provide my comments. I will talk about what does I think..and why or why not.

If you've only got time to watch one newscast when you're in town, watch channel 69.
Probably the only real newscast left in the market.

Re: FOX 29 newscasts in HD...Channel 69

Yes, I agree with that. Channel 69 WFMZ does a fine job, and has for many years. Their main anchor (whose name escapes me right now) has been there as long as I can remember. When my late grandparents lived in Berks County, they watched the "69 News Berks Edition" even though that newscast would tend to favor Reading and towns "next door" to Reading. My grandparents lived right outside of Birdsboro, and the station rarely covered stories in that area of Berks.

Thanks Julius. That guy's name was on the tip of my tounge, and I just couldn't get it out! Thanks. Is Janet Vasil still there?

No I don't think so.

Yes. I saw it in HD the other night on Comcast 234. It's only in the studio right now, the way Action News started out. Now everything is in HD on Action News. Fox will probably do the same as they buy more HD stuff for remotes and taped pieces.

Thanks Julius. Last I heard, Janet Vasil was still at Channel 69, in an off-air role (I believe she was the station's Public Service Director at one time)...but this was several years ago. But you could be right. She may have left the station, retired, etc.

She is not listed on the station website, but they don't appear to list at least some of their off-air people (for example news editor Colonel Bloom is not listed).

Some TV stations actually list their producers, writers, editors, photographers, etc. on their Staff section. At one time, ABC affiliate KTUL-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma had a section dedicated to the biographies of their photojournalists.

As far as the Channel 69 news editor you spoke of...I highly doubt anyone will miss seeing him on the station's website.
