FOX 4 (DFW) DUMPS OUT OF BUSH FOR RICE

OK, so if any local network affiliate is going to drop out of Bush's (probable) final speech as president, you'd think conservative-friendly Fox would be the last to do so. Not in this case...this morning, while all the other networks ran Bush's speech, KDFW-Fox 4 dropped out about 10 mins into it to run a live interview with Jerry Rice (guess he, like everyone else these days, has written a book.) They never did rejoin the network feed.

The rest of you can argue any political side of this....MY question is, here's some guy who Cowboys' fans loved to hate, who never played for a team in this part of the country, and hasn't played football in many years---why would Ch 4 give priority to some story like that? Couldn't you tape it and play it on tomorrow's Good Day show? Did Rice pay infomercial money to plug his book or something?

Strange. Glad 4 wasn't preempting a tornado warning or something.

Two thoughts:

1. Jerry Rice is a better interview than Bush.

2. Nobody wants to hear Bush.....ever again.

Though it's kind of funny, especially considering the conservative, pro-GOP bias of Fox, as well as Texas being Bush's home state. Maybe KDFW found out about Bush's speech ahead of time and decided to give him "competition"?

Private citizen G-Dummy is something ive been looking forward to since 2000. I think it was well within the right of KDFW to drop the speech(as it wasnt a national emergency ala 9-11, shuttle disaster or severe weather) and proceeding with the local show.

FOX 4 actually did something right???????????????? Hold the presses, hell hath froze over.

I saw the same incident you did. This was not really a news-making speech. It was his final news conference. It was a lot of reflecting and chatting/joking with reporters. Aside from saying in the first few minutes that he'd make the request for the extra TARP funds on behalf of Obama, I didn't see much news in the news conference. After about 5 minutes, Fox 4 bailed out and moved on. If you wanted to see it, you could see it on 5, 8, 11, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and probably several others. Furthermore, I seem to recall that this news conference was hastily called. (announced only a few hours before it started) It's one thing to blow out guests for breaking news. But this was not really that crucial an event.

Just my 2 cents.
