Production values criticism for these news shows doesn't matter as much as an observation like this: Tonight on the 7pm show for WVNY 22 we're at :08 on the rundown and it's time for the first "softies"; the soft stories are done and now here are the most important Plattsburgh area stories. At least two stories belong-ed in the first segment.
News Director Harrington, you realize that measurements of New York eyeballs count as much for your ratings performance, why bury the lead for at least a third of your audience? If the package wasn't ready, shame on the ENGs.
Two hard news stories from our region left out the human aspect of the stories entirely: How bystander intervention stopped an alleged puppy abuser and lead to the take-down of a pharmacy robber.
The human aspect(s of a story help the viewer identify with the story and be more compelled.
If tightly editing your script to make the show 'pop' is your aim, please don't forget that santizing the humanity out of a story makes me care less to watch, not more.
