Promos noticed today about 10 pm local News starting Dec 3. Competing against 10pm Ch.3 HD show. Who is/are the anchor? Does recently departed from NewsCh.5 Thom Hallock do "real" news for them, NECN or a radio station in the market? Will former TV22 news on-air or production people be part of the Fox44 effort? i.e. Eric "it's been a pleasure" Greene, et al? Will local sports be well covered or just touched upon? Weather to be downplayed on this 'cast, for demographic reasons? Gen. Mgr. editorials to be eschewed? Earlier than 10 pm news show not even on the table? btw: Hallock replacement already working for Mr. Sands? Those are our questions. What are yours?
Do Emerald brand Chipotle oven roasted peanuts really deliver bold flavor?
[[cue Don Pardo:]]
"Stay tuned!"

The same booth guy that has always been their vox was on the promo.

I wish Fox 44 great luck and success on their new news endeaver. The B/P market should have more choices than what's available. Viewer habits are tough to change, especially with Channels 3 and 5 being to only real choices for years. Channel 22 last attempt at news was a good, credible, and serious attempt at putting out a good news product. It was a shame that viewership did not catch on quickly enough, perhaps it was the years before of very low budget inconsistant newscasts that looked rather poor against the well done competition on Chs. 3 & 5. Hopefully the Fox 44 News at 10 will have a little of the 'Fox attitude' look and feel to it. Look forward to checking it out, and hope it find it's audience.

WVNY's news wasn't bad, but maybe they should have re-thought hiring Ruth Dwyer as a reporter. She was beyond awful. She made some of the just-out-of-college rookies look like seasoned veterans.

Dwyer was a politico, not a trained broadcast professional, at least not initially.. I watched Fox 44 News at 10, last night.. Overall they did a great job, and had that Fox News look and feel to it.. I hope Fox 44 News can find and build an audience for itself..

1st: Didn't see the inaugural show.
Heard the first seg. was rough from the master control perspective.
2nd: This is an academic discussion; due to the revenue generating potential of any news show, making a margin from this program v. their license commitment, balanced to their ledger are the bottom line considerations.
3rd: Will sales butch-up to bring home the political bacon from fed. office runners, ie. prez. candidates?
4th: What is the supposed major weakness for the news establishment stations of record? Some anchor's eye-set? That anchor's voice? Another's weak chin? Perhap's a crap lead for the weekend run-down, occasionally rescued by weather?
5th: where the hell did I put down my scotch?

Doesn't seem to be any mention of a newscast on their website. However, there's several ads on the front page with no content. Sick website.

Wouldn't be a shock if 44 started hammering that "get your news earlier!" tagline in its promos...

I'm sure the Fox 44 website's news pressence will eventually catch up to the website, it has to. More than likely, their affiliation with Fox dictated the eventual starting up of a newscast. Burlington was unique in that only 2 out of the 4 major network was committed to news. As the Fox 44 News franchise grows, they will have the ability to extend it to 22 if they choose. Look at Channel 3's 6:00 pm news, it seems it's 30 minutes of news coupled with 30 minutes of commercials. Channel 3 commands a big buck for that newscast, carpe' diem.. !

Caught the show last night: the fastest pace in the market; still working on lighting and sound. Maloney face too shaded when one-shotted at stage right; Navarro's sound just thrown up when he takes a story and then level righted during his prompt read. Street reporters stand-ups and packages well-executed and tight. Wx prominence in run-down obvious and nicely graphic-ed. Commercials sold for 'cast or ROS or comp'd? Missed the sports seg. One cliche 2-shot moment at end when Navarro loudly tapped his hard copy together on desk to end. So banal.
btw: Throw and receive crutches: "awright" "alrighty" "back to you" at the net and local level, so common they're ignored or annoying pap?

Finally got a chance to watch this last night. Hey Whitney Brown, great sportscast.

...won't be able to watch the Patriots-Giants game...

Comcast offers NFL Network. All the people in Burlington have to do is make a phone call. Sick research, and sick talk over the blooper reel. There's only one Jamie Scavotto, and you ain't it. I'll give this operation a year.
