Fox 5 Muzzled Rush Limbaugh?

Today, Rush took a caller who said that when he grew up, he used to stay up until 2 AM to watch reruns of Rush's old TV show on WNYW/5. To which Rush replied with something along the lines of, "Ah, yes, there was a general manager at that station who wouldn't air my show at a reasonable time"...

From what I remember, when Rush's TV show began in 1992, it actually aired on WWOR/9 at night, around 12:30 AM. Then somehow WNYW gained the rights, and then I recall they aired it at 11 AM weekdays, before finally moving it to 2 AM.

Hmmm... Did Rush actually have an argument with WNYW management about when his show should air? Does anybody have anything to add to this? I think the GM at WNYW at the time was Michael Wach.

Quite ironic, when you think about it: Fox choosing not to give Rush Limbaugh as much exposure as possible... when, today, he'll lob a call to Greta on Fox News once in awhile, and last night, was interviewed by Sean Hannity for his TV show...

Fox did try to give Rush as much exposure as possible, but the TV show was terrible and the ratings were worse, and in the end it's still a business, so he got shunted to overnight to burn off the contract.

I remembered that WFSB-DT (CBS) in Hartford carried his show. I don't remember what time it aired at though. Late night sounds pretty likely, come to think of it.

WFXT (then channel 25) in Boston tried airing Rush's TV show at a convenient time for viewers in the pre-DVR era (people nonetheless DID have VCRs) but it tanked in the ratings and 'FXT moved him to late-night/early-morning. Just by chance, I saw the episode were the obese bullet-headed Rush Limbaugh made fun of Chelsea Clinton's appearance.

As a matter of fact, I believe WFSB/3 was pretty much a carbon copy of WWOR/9 from 11:30 PM-1 AM for most of fall 1992: Arsenio at 11:30, Rush at 12:30.
