Lemme pose this to the group..

Why doesnt FOx61 do some sort of morning lineup?

They could do an hour of local news followed by the 3 hour "THe Daily Buzz" from Orlando? I seriously think if they did something like this, they could become a player in the morning show market in Hartford.

Could they... yes (maybe to a degree)
Should they...yes
Will they...NO

Why?

MONEY.

I totally agree, 61 should do some morning news programming. How about going head to head with 30 at 10am. Or something different like a 4pm or 7pm newscast.

I would love to see it but it ain't likely to ever happen. 61 is about as thin as they come. They have a quarter (if that) of the resources (budget, photogs, reporters...they only have one live truck!) that the 3's and 8's have.

It would be interesting though.

Is it that they just dont care to try and make some of this happened? I always wondered why they don't become a real player.

They don't even really do breaking news or weather unless it's something absolutely major, especially if its in the morning or afternoon...

I think they just want to do the 10pm newscast thing. We really don't need them in the morning as we already have WFSB Channel 3, NBC 30, News 8 all with 5-7am local morning show going into the network morning show. It might be hard for FOX 61 to take viewers away from WFSB, WVIT, WTNH who are all well established now. They could maybe do a 7-9am local morning show or 8-10am morning show and on WTXX they could show The Daily Buzz as its more WB.

Paul: I agree that WTIC should at least give it a shot. However, Tribune simply won't spend the money on more producers, reporters, and photographers to make a new morning show happen. They don't have the resources that WFSB, WVIT,a and WTNH have. Yes, it's a shame...but as John Facenda used to say "That's the way it is."
