Talking about screens, I'd wish they'd go back to the green screen for the weather. Much easier to see what's on the map rather than looking at 9 TVs put together that don't even fill up your screen. As far as I know, WKYC is about the only one that still uses a green screen for their weather reports.I occasionally watch Fox 8 news at 6 pm. Seeing Andre and Ken Carmen walking back and forth between the anchor desk and the big screen seems kind of goofy. What's the deal with that?
WEWS still does as well.Talking about screens, I'd wish they'd go back to the green screen for the weather. That's interesting that the Fox affiliate in North Carolina (WGHP) is owned by Nexstar, but still uses "My Fox" in their web address. The My Fox branding was common across Fox's O&O stations and their websites back in the mid to late '00s. Prior to the fox8.com domain for WJW, it was myfoxcleveland.com. Fox sold off WJW in 2007, which was about the time when that domain was being used. Sometime near the beginning of 2009, the My Fox branding and domain for WJW were dropped, probably after the move to the Tribune/Local TV LLC platform.but the other Fox 8 - myfox8.com from North Carolina (it's eerily the same website and almost identical station logo) - runs the same way, so it must be a Nexstar thing.
I did figure out that Fox 8 just doesn't stream the morning show anymore. New Day Cleveland streams starting at Noon, and the news for the rest of the day is still there on a delay.
It's weird, because Fox 8 is the ONLY station that delays their live feeds. 19 streams EVERYTHING live, as does 3, although 3's feed volume is 1/10 that of the commercials that they show, which makes for some interesting viewing. Is it to do with 8 now going out to Toledo (I'm guessing, based on the weather radar maps) and the others not going that far?
No. Its Nexstar who's doing this. Nexstar delays their live streams on all their stations' websites across the board with the EXCEPTIONS of KTLA, KRON, and WGN.
Is that something recent? Fox 8 (and, I presume, the rest of the Nexstar stations) used to be concurrent with the station's live feed, and you'd think that with DirecTV dropping them from their lineups, they'd WANT to be live.
