Fox 96.7 and Fox 103.1

Ok, I know I have posted about Fox a lot, but there is still stuff to talk about. In a previous thread, there was the subject of how Fox was number one in Orange County. I don't know much about that story, but I did hear the top of the hour ID and they said they were number one. Does anyone think they will be able to make it to number one? I guess we can see when the Fall book comes out. There is the question of the morning show and previous format also. Chris Confalone pointed out that perhaps WGNY did so well last book with the "Hits" format. I think that is a possibility. Also, maybe the morning show, originally with Roberts, Eagan, and Quinn or Eagan and Quinn helped WGNY. Was it a mistake to cancel the show? Well, in my opinion, I really don't like Joe and Lori, just my opinion. I thought John, Mike, and Therese were good together. What is your take on this?

Fox is pretty good but number one? ... I doubt it. Yet strangely enough it seems that every store I go in around Orange County always has them tuned in.

I happen to agree with you about their morning show. I think it's boring compared to the former Roberts, Eagan and Quinn. Therese Quinn may have a rough voice but she and the whole morning crew were fun to listen to. Lori was so much better when she was teamed with Dave Hunter. That was a very funny show.

What gets me with 103.1 is that they had a decent new morning guy (Bob O) when they first combined with 96.7, but then after a week or so (imagine that, just a week!), for some strange reason (which is never unusual for 103.1) they drop him from 103.1, and go with Lori & Joe Manglass, while leaving Bob O at 96.7. Furthermore they start Bob O at 5:30 (a very good time), and yet they go back to 6 am for the Joe and Lori show on 103.1; totally confusing ... Why??? I tune to 96.7 whenever I can in the morning. Unfortunately their signal is poor in southeastern Orange County.

I still feel that the station would do better if it went live and local 24 hrs a day. It is so obvious that their entire weekday and weekend broadcasting day (and overnight) is voicetracked by their local talent and ABC Networks jocks (except for the morning show when we get to hear the actual time, weather & traffic, etc). As for their taped weather forecasts the rest of the day ... I'm sick and tired of hearing Saturday's weather on Sunday afternoon. Get it together Sunrise and Fox! You've done a fairly decent job to date, but there's so much room for improvement. You really could do so much better, and then maybe actually deserve to be number one!

You bring up a lot of interesting points. Involving the morning show, Therese had a great personality, but like you said, her voice was rough. This morning I listened to Joe, Lori, and Bill and they had some pretty funny conversations, but it would have been funnier with Mike, John, and Therese. Mike was the funniest. I agree with you on the pre-recorded weather forecasts and everything.

Also, Lori seemed to be better teamed with Dave Hunter. Is Joe Manglass really going to be appealing to the audience WGNY has been trying to capture? Maybe Mike and Lori would have worked, or Bob O. and Lori -- Joe seems to be out of place. In firing a successful team in favor of this, what's Sunrise trying to do -- NOT succeed?

That is what it seems like. Why did they fire Mike and Therese in the first place? WGNY FM deserves new ownership. I'll start bidding. $0.01.

There are alot more to numbers then what's posted on RandR. TSL etc. I am sure there is a combination that allows them to say they are number. Raw data aside.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! TRUE ABOUT THE BIDDING!!! I THINK DAVE HUNTER IS THE SMARTEST ONE TO HAVE THE SENSE NOT TO GO BACK TO GNY. THE STATION OBVIOUSLY SEEMS TO BE CONFUSED STILL, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BE CAUGHT UP IN ALL OF THAT? MS. QUINN, I DO AGREE WITH YOU, EVEN THOUGH HER VOICE WAS ANNOYING THAT MORNING SHOW WAS GOLD FOR GNY AND FIT IT PERFECTLY, THEY ALL GOT ALONG WELL AND IT WAS EASY TO WAKE UP TO THEM. LORI, EVEN TEAMED UP WITH DAVE, I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE NOT FANS OF HER, HER VOICE AND LAUGH (ESPECIALLY) REALLY DON'T FIT FOR MORNING RADIO. I KNOW JOE TRIES, BUT I THINK GNY SHOULD JUST GET A BRAND NEW MORNING SHOW, ALL FRESH. THE SHOW IS PRETTY STRESSFUL TO WAKE UP TO, BECAUSE PEOPLE WANT TO LAUGH AND FEEL THAT THEY ARE WAKING UP WITH FRIENDS INSTEAD OF BLAH BLAH BLAH. JUST MY OPINION. GNY NEEDS TO GET SOME SENSE!

If You Owned WGNY, What Would You Do?

I bid $0.02!

I would make it AC, even though we don't need another one, but it would be interesting if GNY would beat out the other. Or maek it country or oldies. Another choice could be classic rock. What do you think?

Even though I like the new morning show with Joe and Lori ,I miss Roberts,Eagan and Quinn. I miss the jokes and bits that they used have. I still wonder why they let Mike and Therese go. After Sunrise fliped Hits 103.1 to "The Fox", I called WGNY's business office to ask why the old show was cancelled. I was told that Mike and Therese left WGNY. I wasn't told as to why they left.
