Fox (Again) Caught Using Misleading Video

"Fair and Balanced" Fox News got caught again. This time they attempted to sandbag Republican-libertarian insurgent Ron Paul by asking him to respond to video of a purported chorus of booing when he won a conservative conference candidate straw poll. Only the video was from last year's conference.

Apparently Fox not only opposes liberals, they don't like some Republicans either. Fox is being criticized by some Paul supporters of using the wrong footage to help promote the candidacy of Mitt Romney (maybe Romney's dad would say Fox viewers are being "brainwashed").

This isn't the first time: Fox did a piece on Michelle Bachmann speaking on health care reform to a large and enthusiastic crowd - only it wasn't the same crowd she actually spoke to, which was not nearly as large as the crowd Fox showed. And they did a piece on the large crowds Sarah Palin was drawing on her book tour but the crowds were from a 2008 campaign rally.

Fox News is headed by Roger Ailes who got his start in politics doing staged TV "town meetings" for Tricky Dick.

These are more likely mistakes by the incredibly young and inexperienced staff that works behind the scenes at Fox News Channel. Ailes may be an evil genius, but he's also the king of hiring the cheapest possible labor he can find. You will find that much of the staff of producers and writers are made up of recent college grads who have little to no experience in the business. It's easy for Ailes and his people to ask these kids to do things more experienced people would never ever do, but it also leads to a lot of on-air mistakes.

Probably. A coworker used to work there on the technical side of things. He always got into arguments with the newsroom kiddies because, according to him, they were very opinionated, thought they knew it all and often got facts wrong. I can't say whether or not that applies to the latest crop of newsroom staff though.

Well, Fox Noise allegedly is "Fair and Balanced" after all. Maybe this means they decided to actually start following the principle backing their tagline, for a change. ;o)

Shit happens on the technical side. I've done my readers and wrong video is run, etc.

But to put blame on "incredibly young and inexperienced staff" is downright idiotic. I've seen and experienced seasoned professionals at the switcher and on the video server make incredible mistakes as well...and they keep repeating them.
