Fox and Nexstar have a station trade

https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/240879/nexstar-fox-buy-sell-five-stations/

Nexstar will purchase from Fox Corp., the Charlotte, N.C. (DMA 21), Fox affiliate WJZY and MyNetworkTV affiliate WMYT for approximately $45 million in cash.

Fox is buying from Nexstar the Seattle (DMA 13) Fox affiliate KCPQ and MyNetworkTV affiliate KZJO and the Milwaukee (DMA 35) Fox affiliate WITI for approximately $350 million in cash, subject to customary adjustments. Those stations align with the Fox’s sports rights and the transaction will expand Fox Television Stations’ market presence to 14 of the top 15 DMAs.

The affected stations are KCPQ, WITI and KZJO are going to Fox Television stations and WJZY is heading to Nexstar.

Kind of unusual that Fox got out of station ownership in Charlotte, which is home to an NFC team and is a larger market than Milwaukee

If you had to pick an NFL fan base for loyalty, would you select Packers or Panthers?

I think that's what Fox has done here.

Rumors are that Nexstar would sell Sac & SD to Fox and Fox would sell Orlando & the twin cities to Nexstar kinda surprised Fox would sell Minn since that is an NFC market Vikings.

If Fox were to really get KTXL Fox 40 this would be the second example of a O&O in the Sacramento Valley after CBS getting KOVR and KMAX.

Note Solano County, CA is a two market area where the border between the Bay Area TV DMa and the Sacramento DMAs border is within Fairfield and Suisun City area.

It's interesting that CBS has 4 TV stations (KPIX, KBCW, KOVR and KMAX) that can touch Solano County but this was initially to go around the blackout rules when the Raiders was in the Bay Area though. and if Fox were to really get KTXL this would be a second case of a Network O&Os from more than one market reaching Solano County. Note the Fox Bay Area outlets Fox 2, KTVU+ already reach Solano County. Wait KTXL has no NFC team though but Fox may get KTXL to go around the NFL blackout rules for the 49ers?

Not to mention Houston's duopoly of KRIV and KTXH. But if that were happen, it would be a dispute with KIAH which just got bought by Nexstar after the Tribune merger.

Here is an update

On Monday, Fox Corp. completed the previously announced $350 million purchase of Seattle stations KCPQ (Fox) and KZJO (MNT) as well as Milwaukee station WITI from Nexstar Media Group.

At the same time, Nexstar completed its $45 million purchase from Fox of WJZY (Fox), and WMYT (MNT) in Charlotte, N.C. WJZY will remain a Fox affiliate.

With the transaction, Fox Television Stations expands its market presence to 14 of the top 15 DMAs and adds two markets that overlap with Fox’s National Football League, Major League Baseball and college football broadcast packages.
