Fox Censorship Of The Emmys

C

What was going on with all the censorship of the Fox broadcast of the Emmy Awards tonight?

It started with Ray Romanno who was black out in mid-sentence, continued with the muting of some young bimbo actress saying "Oh, Sh**" when it was announced she won and Emmy [ the close-up made it easy to read her lips] and was followed with the nearly total black-out of Sally Fields' acceptance speech. She started to talk about mothers being able to stop wars and then she was censored.

Surprise Fox Noise did not black out that guy named Black who really handed TV suits their collective heads with some very true and cutting comments.

All in all it has to be the worst Emmy broadcast to come down the line.

Again, not surprised that the right wing reactionaries at "Fox Noise" would censor anything but what they consider the party line.

"Fox Noise" - the Pravda of Cable

I saw that with Sally Field and I didn't know what was going on at first when she was rambling on with her speech, I thought something happened with the sound when they broke away like they did, but it is not the first time the words "God D--n" has been uttered on TV, surprised they censored it just so that I was surprised that they didn't censor the word "b-----d" when Jon Stewart (or whoever) said it in the skit that he did. That word has also been uttered on TV before. Guess FOX was afraid of a few fines that were going to be levied on their network. So I guess they need to go back to CBS, ABC or NBC where they belong.

I can imagine how these words will ruin civilization as we know it?

I wish someone would be as careful with all the violence on TV. The other day I saw a piece about the huge fine for Janet Jacksons nipple,,, and right after the story was a show promo which showed someone getting shot in the head. But you didn't see their nipple, and they didn't say anything bad. I am totally at a loss for why random violence and death are ok, but nipples and words get fines.

For a free country like the US, it seems that, in this day and age, we're still too chaste to take risks without getting in trouble.

"Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner may wave..."

"The end."

Not surprising that "Fox Noise" of all cable networks which revels in the fact that we are at war and promotes the continuation of the killing of more American soldiers would want to censor any criticism of the Alfred E. Newman Administration.

Ruperts ugly hand work in action.

You're making too much of this. Bottom line: its their network - they can broadcast what they please. Add to that the potential for FCC fines over four letter words.

And are the Emmy's really about making political statements? I don't think so. I'd say those doing so are out of line, no matter left or right.

Sorry, but "Fox Noise" is America's answer to the Communists' PRAVDA. Report or allow only the party line views to be heard.

I suppose that we should picket the entire television industry now because the actors say "God D--n", the slang term for a female dog, the slang term for an illegitmate child, the other word for donkey, crap, etc., etc., and while we are at it we should picket the entire film industry because they say the same things if not worse. The violence on both TV and film should go away as well.

FOX went way overboard with their censoring I agree but if they allowed b------d to be said, they should have bleeped out other things that was said as well.

The "young bimbo actress" you're referring to is Katherine Heigl of Grey's Anatomy, who got Supporting Actress-Drama.

But since the Emmys are also seen around the world, expect uncensored clips to show up on YouTube this week.

The irony of all this is "Family Guy", on which any to all of the aforementioned taboo words can be heard, returns next week with a new season in its regular timeslot - which just happened to be pre-empted by the Emmys.

Wow. In my world the Emmys aired on Fox, NOT Fox News. You know Fox--they brought us such right-wing propaganda as "The Paris Hilton Slut Spectacular," or was that called something else? Fox also had "Temptation Island" where married couples were encouraged to commit adultery. The list goes on and on. Too bad these right wing reactionaries are forcing their "whore-a-rific" morality down your throat.
By the way, does anyone believe Sally Field has a thought in her head about anything? Why would you listen to someone who has made a career out of playing a ditz? Oh, I get it--anyone who thinks the way you do is a genius.

CTV Canada picks up the direct FOX feed. We got a green screen from time to time...seconds at a time.
I just assumed something was wrong with my HD feed...

For all her beauty it appears Heigl has no class.

You must be unfamiliar with the O.P. He's a left-wing political hack who can't find a home on the Off The Air board anymore, so he brings his political rants here with just enough TV talk thrown in to be on-topic. He doesn't mind censorship, just as long as his side is doing it. Fox dares to air the other side of the debate, and that's threatening.

Considering that Fox is supposed to kowtow to the Religious Right, I'm surprised they'd have someone like Ryan Seacrest hosting the Emmys. I was expecting someone more along the lines of Pat Boone, Pat Robertson, or Paul Crouch.

Yeah, and shows like "Family Guy," "American Dad," and "The Simpsons" are all clearly right-wing bible-thumping crusades, aren't they? Geez, we have 3 clearly liberal broadcast networks and one that sometimes leans right (in its news dep't) and yet that one is called "Pravda."

Hugo Chavez has a new friend in 'Casablanca'. ;D

Wow. QUOTED FOR TRUTH.

Appearantly not many people saw the censored moment as this year's Emmys was the the least-watched in history, loosing three million viewers from last year and beating the previous record set in 2004.

Perhaps running The Emmys against Week 2 of Sunday Night Football, particularly New England vs. San Diego was not that bright an idea. They really need to move it next year to either a different night or outside of NFL season.

It's real simple: any network would have censored the things Fox did.

After NBC got fined for something Bono said at some awards show, no one wants to be next on the FCC's hit list.
