Fox CT gone from Cablevision next month

Checking Cablevision's channel 99 again, on 8/24, WTIC-TV Fox CT (61) will vanish from the line-up. This comes after 25+ years of being on Cableivison's line-up dating back to their start as an independent known for playing the national anthem on church bells in dedication to Governor Ella Grasso at sign-on and sign-off as you see in this video from WTIC-TV's opening night gala in 1984

Could this mean the end for the other Hartford/New Haven signals on Cablevision in Fairfield County? CV also has a service for New Haven County not using Comcast like Milford. AT&T's U-Verse still has WTIC.

That's interesting as I believe Cablevision even goes as far up as Woodbridge (which I believe is served by the Bridgeport head-end). Will they or do they split channels by service area? I know back when I had DirecTV that depending on what county you were in you'd either get the New York market or Connecticut channels, but not both.

In Southington with DirecTV in addition to the Hartford/New Haven locals (minus WHPX/ION) you got WCBS, WNBC, and WNYW. They weren't on 2, 4, and 5. They were up in the upper 300s.

I have a gut feeling all the out of town stations on cable systems are going to be deleted soon.

Well WEDW 49 would still be on Cablevision as it is licensed to Stamford as well as WSAH 43 Bridgeport, which is supposed to make a move in towers to NYC. I only wish they would get rid of WRNN, a waste of a signal if ever there was one.

WFSB 3 has a Fairfield County signal only for Cablevision customers.

WTNH 8 is the nearest big 4 commercial network station in New Haven so that might stay on CVC

WVIT 30, well that could be the next to "sign-off" if you will. But that station has been on Cablevision's line-up from day 1 of service 30 years ago.

But it makes me wonder, if say Fox/NewsCorp has another run in with Cablevision re: program fees and WNYW 5 is blocked, where do people go...dish, U-Verse, FiOS, or even the rooftop antenna?

Not anymore. The FCC dismissed the application.

WEDW-TV is actually licensed to Bridgeport, with their transmitter in Trumbull. A friend in Stratford has Cablevision and has heard nothing about WTIC-TV being dropped for him. Maybe they're significantly viewed there?
