Fox CT is adding a 5 pm newscast

It's probably during the time given to cable/satellite providers each hour. They schedule their own sold spots and promos, and often there are deals with stations to carry promos as well.

Don't forget its called Comcast sports net New England!! And during the elections i saw a lot of NH ads from the different races going on.

Are you sure it's not just the cable operator inserting the advertisement locally? (Example: Comcast inserts the WTIC-TV news ad so only their Hartford region customers see the spot.)

I'm seeing the ad in Portland, ME.

Biffstunt:

Maybe New England Cable News could send regionalized feeds (with only the commercials being different) to various regions of New England, so Portland, Maine viewers don't get spots for a Hartford newscast!!

(Also, NECN could get advertisers who might be interested only in Metropolitan Boston, Rhode Island and Connecticut, or Northern New England).

;D

NECN has Brian Burnell (formerly of WTNH-TV of New Haven) for their Hartford Division. I don't think they're going to do any more than that for Connecticut right now.

Perhaps. But I am guessing that Fox in CT is buying time on Comcast Sportsnet to promote whatever they are promoting, and it is getting coverage all over New England. Seems like a lot of money in that ad campaign is being wasted on viewers like me who couldn't see a CT Fox station if we wanted to.

I know NESN has the ability to run ads in zones - I think Maine is its own zone, for example. I wonder if CSN has the same ability, or if Fox CT might not have known.
