Fox did something else today.....

I guess that the thinking at FOX is to buy sports until the cows come home. The turner teams don't seem to be doing great these days. It looks like a dumb move for FOX. How they make a profit is beyond me. The major network has only 1 or 2 shows (American Idol and House) that get strong ratings and revenue. The rest of their ratings come from sports and as far as I can tell they pay out the Wazoo for them and the money from commercial spots can't be making up the cost, if it was, then NBC with GE's money would have slapped them down hard; they must be running sports at a loss. With the notable exception of FNC I don't get how they are making any money in cable. If a la carte went into force they would die a cruel death since none of their cable properties are worth having. You can always pick up "The Shield" when it comes on on DVD.

One word: Infomercials.
Didn't TBS have more of them then fox anyway?
If that's where the money is for fox, then all the power to them.
Less sunday early morning reruns on TBS, more infomercials.
A home to dump more infomercials...why not?
As for the sports programming, and what ever else TBS has to offer, well, I guess this will be the fox home of classic Fox programming...perhaps run the way Fox 29(WUTV) in Buffalo NY was run prior to their becoming Fox.

I looked quickly at the Neilson's and didn't see it listed (top 20). I am not saying FOX doesn't have good shows (fans of arrested development certainly can claim that show is good, based on the critical acclaim). My question is how they profit with only 2 shows that are profitable in the top 20.
