FOX/Disney deal

Not surprised Disney doesn't want Fox News or the stations.

Well, no company can own two networks and its highly unlikely the Murdochs would unload Fox News, the company's most profitable channel.

Also Disney wants to create its own streaming service and Fox's TV production and movie studio would help with that.

That's exactly why AT&T is buying Time Warner, and why other companies were considering buying Disney.

I wonder why Disney would want the Fox Network, other than to strip out any assets and shut it down.

Probably infuriates Les Moonves, who has been thinking about the exact same thing.

Disney would be unable to get Fox's broadcast network but would get the tv production arm from the news reports I've seen.

You're right: I saw this in the article: "Disney would not acquire FOX in a deal (it already owns one broadcast network, ABC, and cannot own a second), nor would it add Fox Television Stations, sports or news assets."

Disney already owns LucasFilm, the creator of Star Wars. Fox owns the original Star Wars movies. So this would put all those assets under the same ownership.

also Marvel too, they are trying to get the X-Men/Deadpool franchise and the Fantastic 4 franchises back in Marvel ownership, as in they want the Fantastic 4 and X-Men characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies too.

Yes we shouldn't confuse 20th Century FOX and the movie/studio assets, with FOX News or Broadcasting. Two completely different divisions.

Word on the street is FOX wants to parlay sale of the movie division to acquire other international broadcast networks including Sky and ASkyB. They've been trying to make that happen for several years, but controversy and wrongdoing inside their past publishing and cable divisions have prevented it from happening.
