Fox has started to remove the UPN logo from WWOR, as the 7 PM legal ID and bug show. Rupert Murdoch and , his little minions have acted rather quickly in expressing their displeasure. However, as of 7 PM the website still has the UPN 9 logo.<P ID="signature">______________

FOX is obviously angry that they are losing America's Next Top Model, SmackDown, Everybody Hates Chris, etc. so abruptly. They weren't prepared for this.

Possible, but it's still a stupid move. Fox should be maximizing the time they have left, getting the highest ratings possible to milk the programming for all its worth.

Not really. Why go promoting a show like "Everybody Hates Chris" or "America's Next Top Model" when in the fall, it's going to be on WPIX? Or, like most of the other shows currently on UPN, nonexistent?

Fox has seven months to completely reinvent WWOR, and lay the groundwork for what's to come. They're smarter to begin that work now, and work for better ratings in the future, than to sweep the deck of a sinking ship.

And knowing FOX, they'll probably try to sell the stations first.

LOL. (About them selling their stations)

Side note: Can FOX yank their network off of Sinclair's Channel 45 in Baltimore and move it to their own Channel 24?

Maybe, since WBFF's contract with Fox expires this year.

Simple. Because you still need to sell those shows through May sweeps.

If this were May 29 instead of January 29, I'd totally agree with you. But it isn't. You just want Fox to sit on their hands and run PSA's during local breaks until September? That's just dumb.

I may not always agree with Fox's decisions or politics, but I realize they ain't dumb.

Nothing's stopping them from selling spots.

Also, who's to say that half those shows are even going to survive through the sweeps? Fox might find better options than running some of the lower-rated UPN shows. After all, this is 20th Century Fox we're talking about. They might find they can get better ad revenues from the "Channel 9 Tuesday Night Movie" than they do from "Girlfriends," "Eve," and a "Veronica Mars" rerun.

The smartest thing WWOR (and Fox) can do right now is to start uncoupling itself from the UPN identity. The shows that can bring in revenue, like "Smackdown," "Top Model," and "Chris," but bump the ones that weigh down the schedule.

It's all about the branding.

You're assuming they can contractually do that.
