FOX is licking their chops now...

With the NY Giants winning the NFC Championship and heading to the Super Bowl, WNYW will see viewer numbers for the Big Game shoot through the roof.

GO GIANTS!!!!!
 
As will any FOX affiliate in NY State! Go Giants. But .... it will be nice to watch a part of history to see the Patriots do the unbelievable .....

Everybody keeps using that "MASH" finale as the bar.

Since there are clearly more people in the U.S. than there were 25 years ago, wouldn't it be sfe to assume this game was the "most watched" of all time?

I guess if there was anything that needs an asterisk... ;)

Nope - in fact, it's the other way around. The statistics use the number of viewers and the M*A*S*H finale had more total viewers against a much smaller population, meaning their percentage of population is much, much higher than SB42's.

Est. 1983 population: 235.5 million, M*A*S*H viewers: 106 million - 45%
Est. 7/2007 population: 301 million, SB42 viewers: 97.5 million - 32.4%
