Fox Moving "Idol" To Wednesday/Thursday Nights

In announcing several upcoming programming moves, Fox has announced that starting this season, "American Idol" will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays:

This is mind-boggling because doesn't the May sweeps period end on a Wednesday? Or would they just move the final week's shows back to Tuesday and Wednesday? Or maybe just do one giant show the final Wednesday night? Or will the Thursday night finale be carried on FX? This move doesn't make sense. Greenlighting "Running Wilde" was a smarter decision by comparison.
