fox news in Indianapolis

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts (good or bad) on WXNT's switch to FOX News Radio over CBS News. Seems like a good move to me, lots of credibility with FOX as well as more opportunities to associate with a very strong brand.

Seems like a good move. WLW also just switched to Fox after years with ABC.

WHAS in Louisville also switched to Fox after year with ABC and a few weeks ago they added CBS.

My station in Northeast Pennsylvania jumped on the Fox News Bandwagon early. I like the product, and like CNN was in it's early days, Fox gives you rights to ALL their TV product as well. So, if you have a major unfolding story, you can actually jump over to Fox Cable. Although, they have been excellent in providing radio-only long form coverage on so many different stories. BUT... and it's A HUGE BUT...when Fox went from their 1 minute service to their 5 minute service, all the spot traffic & satellite tech is handled by Premiere, and they have been one nightmare after another. They screw up time after time after time, and then when you try to get help from them, they are arrogant and will gladly tell you, that whatever your problem is.."It's YOUR fault!" Now having said that, the Fox News people, couldn't be more helpful and accomodating. They are great!

Actually, that sounds more like the attitude of ABC radio engineering in New York... "It couldn't possibly be us!"

That's actually the big reason I flipped a station to Fox early on.

That and the ROS spot requirements are a small fraction of what ABC required, and no cash.

The Fox News Channel rights are awesome in national breaking news situations too.

Good deal.

Sorry to see so many stations switching to Fox Radio News. Fox has a definite
editorial slant, very right-wing, but I suppose with most AM talk shows being
nothing more than hate mongering broadcasts what difference does it make?
This should be a very happy marriage for the likes of WIBC and FOX.
I guess we can only hope that someday a FOX star just might do a guest
news anchor appearance....and here I am thinking of Montgomery Burns!!!
"Smithers, release the stories!"

I don't think Indianapolis has this problem. At least with their local people. Abdul, Pidge and Dave Wilson are far from haters.

But WXNT has FOX, not WIBC.

Or, House:

"Well, maybe if they didn't build a major city in a bowl that is under sea level, these things wouldn't happen. Are you hearing me Houston, because you're next!"

Well, you get the idea.

I do like FOX on WXNT, though. It sounds good, and the flow of the station seems to have gotten a whole lot better. I need to give it more time to really appreciate it, though. I really never noticed CBS on the station at all.

Yeah. How come Fox can't be editorially slanted left-wing like CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and Reuters?

Good point, FOX does have a conservative "EDITORIAL" slant. However, FOX does seem very fair in airing both sides of an issue, even in their "Opinion" shows, a much better job than their liberal counterparts do. Of course I'm speaking television not radio at this point.

Leaving the "OPINION" based shows out of the mix, as a consumer, I believe FOX has a better "NEWS" product with less reporter/anchor bias than the other major networks. Granted, being conservative, I'm not as sensitive to conservative bias as I am to liberal bias. So you may intrepret things differently than I.

>...most AM talk shows being nothing more than hate mongering broadcasts

I certainly don't listen to all of the available talk radio shows, but I don't hear what you're hearing, unless you consider "hate mongering" to be anyone voicing an opinion that differs from yours. I believe that the Air America hosts are more hateful and crass than the major conservative hosts.. other than Michael Savage.

We flipped to Fox a few weeks ago and most everyone is in agreement: it's nothing near what ABC was in terms of anchors, delivery and sound. Although Fox has gotten better, it's still not as polished as ABC or CBS for that matter. For example, Fox has chosen not to offer anchored coverage of some news events. That makes a difference in the eyes of some program directors and news directors who want some professional commentary and insight after the news conference.

Fox does have one advantage: it's cheaper and the spotload is much lighter.

I'm in a southern market and the local news anchors and board-ops are all saying the same thing...

Thumbs down.

Hopefully things get better with time.<P ID="signature">______________

About the only time I listen to WIBC is overnights with George Noori/Art Bell
and lately their news on the half hour has been FOX.

When did you hear fox news on WIBC? Was it during the week or weekend?
