Fox News Late Afternoons - Possible Future Change?

True, when you're the number one news network, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

But the news that the 6 PM show "Special Report with Bret Baier" is launching a brand-new Internet-only version of the program makes me wonder if they'll eventually move that show to the Internet in preparation of a possible tinkering with the schedule.

Their new 5 PM program hosted by Glenn Beck has been doing quite well since its debut - and despite the good numbers, does not benefit from a rebroadcast (outside of Sunday afternoons). I could see Fox moving "Fox Report" an hour back to 6 PM - taking on the major broadcast networks' nightly newscasts in some markets - and replaying Beck at 7 PM. Kinda like what MSNBC does with "Hardball" - live at 5 PM, rebroadcast at 7 PM.

Your thoughts?

They've been continuing other shows on the web too. Fox & Friends is on the web for 5-15 minutes afer the show goes off TV. Maybe move Special Report to 5pm and Glenn to 6pm? I don't think Shep will move from 7pm. Put Glenn back on at 2am after West Coast repeats of prime time. That way he's on 11pm on the West Coast. How about putting the Strategy Room on the DT-2 channel of some Fox owned stations?

I suppose there's nothing wrong with that.

By the way, Fox has since added a rebroadcast of Beck's show, weeknights at 2 AM ET, which translates into 11 PM on the West Coast.

Now that Fox Biz is on DISH, maybe they're looking to move someone to FBN to run live programming later into the night, aren't they only running first-run stuff until 9 or so? then it's all reruns

Sean Hannity's show comes on at 9 ET, then Greta Van Susteren at 10 ET. Running reruns the rest of the night is standard on cable news, so West Coasters can view the shows at the same times as East Coasters. MSNBC reruns Countdown as early as 10 ET.

Of course, this may be tentative as there are talks to bring in new talent (Ed Schultz?) to host a new 10 PM ET show.
