Fox News Media Trims Staff Amid Business Restructuring

https://deadline.com/2020/09/fox-news-layoffs-restructuring-1234577833/

Fox News Media said that it was restructuring some of its divisions, with a reduction of its workforce by less than 3%.

“As Fox News Media has evolved into a streamlined multi-platform organization, we are realigning several functions and restructuring various divisions in order to position all of our businesses for ongoing success,” the network said in a statement Wednesday.

No on-air talent is impacted by the staff reductions.

The changes were made after an assessment of how to streamline various departments including those which have duplicate functions. In 2017, the network formed a media production group to streamline the Fox News and Fox Business graphics and media production department.

Fox Inc has announced cuts at Fox news as in layoffs due to restructuring.

I think they see the writing on the wall of major changes in the next few years. They can't ride the Trump train forever.

Also Fox News is watching a threat from the right where Newsmax and OANN wants to grab Republican viewers away from Fox News though and they had to watch that for some time though.

"Fox News Media" is not the same as "Fox News", the cable channel. The channel is just one part of the parent corporation which includes radio, online and other new media.

With the big reductions in staff due to the virus, we are often unaware that companies do small re-balancing constantly. In many cases, changes in technology cause changes in staff needs.

As BigA says, that ain't happenin'.

There is a reason why the CNN Headline News "all news all the time" format died: it got terrible ratings. OANN is mostly headline news, with some breaks for a few personality-devoid commentators who are to the right of Attila The Hun. It is obviously low budget, and tedious.

NewsMax is a very low budget hardly any news just radio personalities from what I have seen and docs as well.

Having Sean Spicer as your primary editorially-facing host, speaks volumes about how well NewsMax is funded and steered.

From what I'm hearing on the inside; both OANN and NewsMax are jockeying to position themselves for a buy-out by the Trump family (or foreign investors therein), to create a Trump-branded cable channel.

Although if what the NYT reports is correct, the family is in debt and has no money to invest. But they have a name brand that will attract viewers and other investors.

And second-tier radio personalities at that. I hate to admit being influenced by production values but Newsmax is so lacking in that area it's tough to watch. I haven't seen OAN.
