Sad news today that Fox News Radio "original" and long time Washington reporter Mike Majchrowitz passed away over the weekend after a long battle with cancer.
Before Mike joined FNR at its start up in 2005, he was a Washington correspondent for Cox. Home in Seattle, whenever I was around for the noon news on KIRO 7, I'd see one of his reports, doing a stand up on the latest political news for our local Cox station. His reports were always a highlight on TV.
After he switched to radio with the Fox start up, he covered congress for a few years. In about 2010, Mike moved to the White House (and Rich Johnson, who left FNR earlier this year, became Chief Washington Correspondent). Mike really sounded good on radio. Even nine years after FNR's original roll out, they still sound just a touch below the standard set by CBS and ABC. But Mac was one of the highlights. You could tell he really knew his stuff and knew his beat (certainly comparable to Ann Compton and Peter Maer, two pros who have been at it for years).
Here's FNC White House Correspondent Ed Henry remembering him on while filling in on Special Report tonight:

And some clips from the radio side...
