I just listened to this show this morning after I recorded this show when I left for work and I've hear the big announcement that Bob O will be moving to mornings on "Fox Oldies" with Laurie G starting this Monday. Bob & Laurie has been with WJGK's "The Fox" for 8 years, and they're moving to "Fox Oldies" replacing Van Ritshie's time slot to make way for D-Rock & Kelly starting this Monday on "The Fox" at 103.1 and they going to simulcast on "Drive FX" on WGNY's HD2 channel and on 95.7. Bob & Laurie will also going to be simulcast on 1220 AM since "Fox Oldies" coming back to AM, but I'm not 100% sure if WGNY-AM should be keeping ESPN Radio at 1220 AM at 9 AM after Bob O & Laurie G after transitioning from oldies back to sports, because WEPN-FM cannot reach Newburgh since it carries ESPN Radio on 98.7 in NYC due to a 50 KW Spanish sports station "ESPN Deportes" on 1050 AM.
What's going to happen to the Van-Man Van Ritshie? He is going to do middays staring this Monday. This must be one of the worst moves in radio. Van is going to middays on "Fox Oldies", it's like Dan Taylor moving back to middays on CBS-FM so they make way for Scott Shannon last week. Van going to middays is a complete train wreck. I wish he is going to retire someday. They should've brought in Rich Stevens from WEOK/WALL last July where he did a great job hosting 2 special shows and reminiscing about the days of WKIP. I Met Rich Stevens at a radio station back in the late 90's where he hosted the "Sunday Morning Trading Post" and had a great time with everyone from the house. Rich should've go to "Fox Oldies" to do afternoon drive replacing Buffalo Bob Corsino, and he can do his weekend shift along with Joe Manglass. If Joe goes to do weekends, bring back Gene Slather, he sounds good on "Fox Oldies" last year.
That was the announcement on the big change. I don't see Bob Corsino and Joe Manglass leaving "Fox Oldies" anytime soon, only Bob O with his sidekick Laurie G will be doing mornings and Van Ritshie going to middays is a dumb move. I would like to see Van Ritshie fail. If I don't listen to him, I rather go to Albany and hear WROW's "Magic 590", they got a better oldies mix than "Fox Oldies" did. Here's the deal, if Van Ritshie going to do middays on "Fox Oldies", he will succeed, but if he fails, that's it, it's over.
Any thoughts on the change, I have an audio of this big announcement, and I will be posting it later.
