Fox Saturday Baseball (April 25)

As the primary game (NYY/BOS) ran until at least 8:30 ET, I'm curious
as to what Fox did on the live east coast feed afterwards. Did they 1)
slip everything, or 2) just run one Cops (new?) then AMW, and if it was
option 2, was the one Cops slipped slightly or a JIP?

And a Q for those of you in (primarily, I believe) midwestern markets
that got the CHC/STL game--assuming it too didn't go way long--did
Fox start prime time per normal at 8 ET/7 CT? Or were you folded into
the primary game?

We got Yankees/Sox here in Rochester. (Go Sox! 16-11!)

They JIP'd an episode of Cops at about 8:37 PM ET. I didn't stick around to see what episode it was.

I don't know if KSAZ-TV Phoenix delays the east coast feed, or if Fox
has a Mountain time zone feed (which doesn't do AZ any good during
DST), or if the shows are pre-fed earlier in the day, but the Phoenix
market got two Cops from 7-8 PT (the first one headlined as "new" at
the top) followed by AMW at 8.

ALL Mountain Time Zone stations delay the live feeds of ALL the networks by an hour. ALL Pacific Time Zone stations delay the live feed of ALL the networks by three hours (Though many MyNetwork & some CW affiliates time shift network programming to suit their needs and/or the desire of their viewers).

As such, I would imagine that KSAZ (Like KDVR here in Denver), likely aired either an hour-long newscast or a half-hour newscast followed by local or syndicated programming to fill the time.

But I dunno what KDVR did because I wasn't watching TV (And even if I was, I certainly wouldn't be watching the Red Sox & Yankees because like most of America, I AM TIRED OF THE OVERKILL NATIONAL EXPOSURE THAT FOX & ESPN PERSISTENTLY PUT INTO THIS RIVALRY.

At least the NFL managed to rent a clue (And ultimately BUY it) when they stopped trying to shove each & every Raiders/Broncos game down America's throat. Ditto with the NBA & the Lakers/Celtics rivalry. Why can't Major League Baseball do the same thing with the Red Sox & Yankees??

Pardon the slightly off topic rant, but it seems to me that I'm quite a few FOX affiliates are tired of being forced to feature a baseball game featuring two teams which their viewers could give a rats moo about IMO.

Just my blunt opinion...

Cheers :)

Just imagine living in Connecticut with this rivalry. ESPN (based in Bristol, CT) has their East Coast bias and so does FOX. I live roughly halfway between the two cities and it's all you get here. Hell...we even have two separate $5 Connecticut Lottery scratch-off tickets based on all of this: One for the Yankees and one for the Red Sox. Sucks to be a Mets fan here!

I watched part of this "marathon" yesterday. My main impression was after the Sox had scored 16 runs, a graphic was needed ro show that the Yanks had given up a total of 38 runs in this and last Saturday's game combined. Bingo the graphic apperars.....

Something is seriously wrong with a 4 1/2 hr game. One can drive from Boston to NYC and halfway back (to about hard hittin New Britain) in 4 and one half hours...

Yes, that's a known fact, and while ABC and CBS affils do their own delays (the Q on
whether Fox has a MT feed or not still needs to be answered by someone in the know),
NBC does have a Mountain time zone feed, however I will stipulate that some MT NBC
affils may choose to do the delay themselves in order to expand one or more prime time
local breaks (apparently with the blessing of 30 Rock).

Not exactly. PT stations get the left coast feed off the bird, so while it is delayed
three hours, each station is not doing the delay--it comes from the network.

KSAZ-TV shrunk their 5-6pm PT newscast as it didn't begin until about 5:37, followed
by usual syndication 6-7.

It would also be interesting to know what "normal" MT Fox affils did starting at 6:37
and if they also aired all of prime time 7-9pm MT.

Didn't this part of the discussion come up last year too? Anyway, I'm a Mets fan but more importantly a baseball fan. The Sox/Yanks national TV games dont bother me too much since they're normally good games. I would have watched it, but since I hate how long AL games last I never really watch any AL games. Yesterday's Mets game went 2 hours 53 minutes. Which is about 23 minutes over what seems to be the norm for the Mets in recent years.

Wait till the Red Sox & Mets square off again in the World Series. You'll be drooling over that.

I don't mind watching the Mets as much as I do the Yankees (Of course that's easy to say when you consider the Colorado Rockies are in the National League and have to play them every year regardless of whether they play the Yankees during Inter-League play or not). But it would be nice if FOX & ESPN were to feature more than just the winning teams.

It's almost as if they're letting MLB dictate to them which games they shall televise instead of just "taking the proverbial plunge" as it were & go after more games like the Rockies/Dodgers, which (Believe it or not) was a regionally televised FOX game recently (Or name your favorite two teams who don't get much national TV exposure here).

Just my opinion...

Cheers :)

What Fox did was roll the opening theme, then the first stopset, and then joined the show in progress.

I got two Red Sox tickets and won on both. :D Also I thought they had a Mets ticket also? Im surprised how CT Lotto got the rights to make a ticket using teams.

Anyways back to the topic. Speaking of FOX Saturday Baseball, why did they stop using the top line score graphic? Sure other networks starting using top line score graphics. ESPN does for baseball and college football as does some regional sport networks like NESN, SNY, YES. As for the new left top box its alright nothing special. Kind of like they want to go back to the old box before they went to the line. Also FOX should just place MLB on FOX logo with the score graphic or just use the regular clear FOX logo on the bottom right.

I saw bits and pieces of the Yankees-Red Sox contest here locally in Los Angeles. An I Love Lucy rerun aired directly the game's conclusion on KTTV. Most Saturdays (usually if the Angels or Dodgers are on the Fox MLB Saturday coverage), KTTV would do a postgame show, followed by Whacked Out Sports, then an hour of Lucy.
