"Fox Security" Calling O'Reilly Listeners

Following up on last week's threats from Bill O'Reilly that people mentioning Keith Olbermann's name on the air would receive a call from "Fox Security" and have their names turned over to local law enforcement for making harassing phone calls, it seems that O'Reilly has made good on his threats.

Ignoring for a moment the rich, buttery, flaky and delicious irony of having The Man With Falafel take on the issue of harassing phone calls (I guess he can claim first hand experience), Keith Olbermann interviewed the original caller and played a message ostensibly left with him and, as we have since learned, was able to verify that there is such a guy at Fox corresponding to the phone number left.

Fox News has so far refused to comment. Keith Olbermann on MSNBC is having a field day, of course!

Now the discussion involves an attorney who is considering a lawsuit against O'Reilly and the local radio station affiliate for unspecified damages.

Perhaps if Fox News can't control Bill (although his radio show is supposed to be distributed by WW1), perhaps local affiliates angered by having lawyers contacting them might?

What the bleep? How could any Fox employee other than O'Reilly himself think this was a good idea, especially since this involves his radio show which they're not associated anyway?

If I were Olbermann and MSNBC, I'd be loving all the free publicity.
 
WTF, that is bad. Only thing that may be a reasonable excuse on Fox/O'reilly side is, watching that link I noticed the guy kept plugginh a website. So I went to that website, and its basically a liberal anti-right wing talker site, who have "calling operations" not only on O'Reilly, but on others such as Rush (I didn't go too deep into the website, so i'm not sure they do these calls in general, or only when a radio host does something they don't like).

So now after seeing that, if O'Reilly knew this guy was a callingallwingnuts caller, and he means "fox security" is going after that organization, then I can understand somewhat what O'Reilly is doing, and he really only sounds bad. However, if O'Reilly has no clue that guy is part of a calling operation, and is just doing this on every prank caller (which I assume will be alot more after this story made headlines), then he trully did go insane.

Bill O isn't insane,although given his behavior of late and long before, one could deduce so. O'Reilly just needs a dose of reality and to get his ego in check. Fox thinks what he is doing is awesome and thus gives him free reign. He takes that freedom to mean that the world is his oyster. Some day, someone will come along and crack his shell.

The O'Reilly Do Right Squad is just the result of another of his flights of fantasy. Given time, he will be a faded memory and people will be asking, "Bill WHO???" Sic transit gloria.

The callingallwingnuts site is an audio blog basically made up of people who call right wing talk shows with a different point of view and then record the results. The O'Reilly "campaign" is basically to call his show and say the name Keith Olbermann. It drives Bill nuts.

Even if they were going after the "organization," it's still outrageous. It's a radio call in show. People can call or not call. The Free Republic people do much the same thing on the other side by calling up liberal shows with their own talking points, but nobody calls the cops on them. :) BTW, from what I understand, people unaware of the website also supposedly got calls from Fox Security. I haven't heard evidence myself that that occured. The best way to confirm it would be to share the name and phone number of the guy at Fox who did call, because that so far hasn't been publicly released AFAIK.

If every radio host called security on every listener who goofed on them somehow, there'd be no listeners left.

My all-time favorite incident of that nature occurred on Don & Mike. People kept calling in just to set up the "Joe? Joe who? JOE MAMA!" joke and D&M were getting a bit annoyed with it, so they announced that they weren't going to take another call for the rest of the show. Don's son calls in. They figure they're safe because he's family, but no, he pulls the same stunt.

That discussion should be its own thread, just not here. Maybe on National Radio or N/T.

Yeah. And that "someone" could very well be the man whose signature is stamped on Bill O'Reilly's paychecks - RUPERT MURDOCH.

Just like the same squad has already is asking "Phil WHO???" when someone refers to to PHIL DONAHUE.
