FOX Sports Black Bars Top and Bottom

I know I have brought this up before. But noticed tonight when ESPN2 was airing extra coverage due to a rain delay they aired coverage from a couple regional networks two being FOX Sports Nets and the other being YES Network. ESPN2 SD showed both FOX Sports Nets in SD without the top and bottom black bars but the top left score box was cut off in the top left. When I put on ESPN2 HD this wasn't a problem because FOX sets their graphics to HD view. So why would FOX Sports be the only ones to set their sports score box and other graphics to HD only? While everyone else from ESPN to CBS Sports to NBC Sports all their graphics are both fine in SD and HD. As their centered on the screen. This would be perfect time for FOX to use their old top line score graphic they once had.

Fox Sports has jumped to 16:9 production for all its sports, but I guess it hasn't worked out perfectly for all.

I still use an old-style 4:3 TV and I like not having the edges cut off the picture. So I'm glad FOX letterboxes in SD.

I have a HDTV so it isn't a problem for me. All I did was flip to the SD verison of ESPN2 to see how it looked. All FOX Sports has to do to remove the top and bottom black bar is move their score box to the right more (placing the graphics not on the edge of the HD picture, but the SD picture). I believe you guys know what I mean. Thats the only reason FOX shows it in 16:9 for the graphics to be seen.

I believe it saves them time and money not having to engineer a wholly separate feed for SD 4:3.
My local RSN has gone the other way, they just allow score boxes and pitch locators to be cut-off
at the edge if you are watching in 4:3. And unless they get a ton of complaints it is probably not
worth their time to monkey with it.
