Fox Sports in talks to air the 2022 USFL

That's right the last time the USFL was discussed was from 1985 and failed due to the NFL's audience size.

A similar ploy was the XFL which was associated with the WWE it was cancelled twice one in 2000's for similar reasons due to NFL Audience size. In 2020 the XFL was cancelled again due to COVID-19 shutdown reasons.

Why do they keep trying? Why why why? Spring football is just a bad idea. There aren't enough good players around to create a product half as entertaining as the NFL or even major college football, and who wants to watch more regular season football at all when they've just seen the climaxes of the NFL and college seasons: the NFL playoffs and Super Bowl and the NCAA national championship playoffs and title game? I realize that MLB is perceived as weak right now, and networks and advertisers would love to have another team sport to program against it from April (and especially from June, when the NBA and NHL playoffs end) through August, but the numbers have never been there for out-of-season football.

USFL was a legitimate thing in the 80s
The quality of play was decent, but attendance was spotty and the league had big problems in markets like Boston, Chicago and the Bay Area. It also was banking on winning megabucks in an antitrust suit against the NFL but the justice system let the USFL down with a token award of $1. Even then, the NFL was too big to fail and that judge knew it. The fix was in.

If the USFL stayed in the spring they would've made it for many years then 2 years plus moving to the fall wasn't a bright idea either. I'll watch the USFL see if it's any good or not.
